Introduction and a short history.

Pool and spa owners are looking for alternatives to chemical disinfection. They are tired of the constant expense, additional work, unnecessary problems and dangerous side effects of chemically sanitized water.

Twenty years ago when automatic pool cleaners and spas first came out, they were viewed skeptically and considered new gadgets. But today spas are common and you probably won't find a pool without an automatic cleaner. Automation is a fast growing trend in the pool industry. Why work at vacuuming your pool for hours and hours, when you can let a robot do it! After all you bought a pool or spa for ENJOYMENT!

The same goes for sanitizing a pool or spa. Why manually work at dosing and handling dangerous chemicals daily when it can be done automatically with safe and effective metallic ions!

With our electronic ionizer the water is purified automatically. But, as with any new technology, it has taken some time for it to catch on! Copper and silver have been used for centuries to sanitize water. Copper is a well known algaecide and silver is a very powerful bactericide. In the ancient Greek civilization royalty drank from silver goblets and their water was stored in silver flagons (urns) in order to purify their drinking water. As the pioneer settlers moved west across the American continent, they insured safe drinking water by putting silver coins in their casks of water and milk.

From centuries ago to the present, this knowledge has been used. NASA developed an electrolytic silver ion cell to purify the astronauts drinking water for the Apollo missions. Also today silver is used in leading products for treatment of burn patients to prevent infections, for newborns to prevent blindness, to make bacteria free cosmetics, in drinking water filters, and for filling cavities in teeth to help prevent further decay. Copper based algaecides have long been used in swimming pools, fountains, lakes and ponds to safely control algae problems.
