SBX-102 C and SBX-102 FC FIELD TEST
2-SPEED MOTOR CONTROL

Pre Set Switches and Jumpers

  1. Verify the following settings on front board:
    JP1/JP2 jumper in 40° position
    JP3/JP4 jumper in switch position
JP5/JP6 jumper in 3 hour position
    SW3 in the Test position
  2. On the front panel:
    Automatic/Manual switch to Auto position
Pump On/Pump Off to “Pump On” position
  3. Set time clock: Push all the detentes away (out) from the center and rotate the time clock 1 full turn.

Note: During testing, allow each function to completely finish before activating another switch. The microprocessor remembers every switch activation.
Read Each step completely before activating any controls.

MANUAL OPERATION TEST

  1. Apply power to unit.
The POWER indicator on front panel will turn on.
The pump and PUMP indicator on the front panel will be off.
The NO FLOW and FREEZE indicators on the front panel will be off.
The SHUT DOWN CYCLE indicator on the front panel will be off.
The “T.C.ON” indicator on the front circuit board will be off.

  2. Turn the AUTOMATIC/MANUAL on the front panel switch to MANUAL.
The PUMP indicator will turn on and glow green.
The pump will turn on and run in high speed.

  3. Turn the PUMP ON/PUMP OFF switch to the PUMP OFF position.
    The pump will turn off.
The PUMP indicator will be off.

  4. Turn the PUMP ON/PUMP OFF switch to the PUMP ON position.
The pump will turn on and run in high speed.
The PUMP indicator will turn on and be green.

  5. Turn the AUTOMATIC/MANUAL Switch to the AUTOMATIC position.
The pump will run in HIGH speed for 7-23 seconds.(Shut Down Cycle)
The SHUT DOWN CYCLE indicator will illuminate while the pump is running in high speed.
The PUMP light will be green.

  6. When the Shut Down Cycle ends:
    The pump will turn off.
The PUMP indicator on the front panel will be off.

AUTOMATIC OPERATION TEST

  1. Push some of the time clock detentes to the "on" position (detentes toward the center of the time clock).Rotate the time clock to an "on" position.
The PUMP indicator will turn on and be green.
The pump will turn on and run in high speed.
The T.C. ON indicator on the front board will be on.

  2. Before 35 seconds:
The PUMP indicator will change color to orange or yellow.
The pump will run in low speed.

  3. Rotate the time clock to an "off" position.
The pump will run in HIGH speed for 7-23 seconds. (Shut Down Cycle)
The SHUT DOWN CYCLE indicator will illuminate while the pump is running in high speed.
The PUMP light will be green.
The T.C. ON indicator on the front board will be off.

  4. After the Shut Down Cycle ends:
    The pump will turn off
The PUMP indicator on the front panel will be off.
The SHUT DOWN CYCLE indicator on the front panel will be off.

This completes the basic operation field test.

FREEZE CIRCUIT TEST

  1. On the front panel remove the wire from TB1 pin 4 (Freeze Common).
The PUMP indicator will turn on and be green.
The pump will turn on and run in high speed.
The FREEZE indicator on the front panel will be on.

  2. Install the wire back in TB1 pin 4 (Freeze Common).
The pump will run in HIGH speed for 7-23 seconds. (Shut Down Cycle)
The SHUT DOWN CYCLE indicator will illuminate while the pump is running in high speed.
The PUMP light will be green.

  3. After the Shut Down Cycle ends:
    The pump will turn off.
The PUMP indicator on the front panel will be off.
The SHUT DOWN CYCLE indicator on the front panel will be off.

Set Switches for Normal Operation

Verify the following settings on the Front Board:
JP1/JP2 jumper in 40° position
JP3/JP4 jumper in switch position
JP5/JP6 jumper in 3 hour position
SW3 to “Normal” position

On the front panel:
Automatic/Manual switch to Auto position
Pump On/Pump Off to Pump On position

Set time clock for desired filtration cycle.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Following is a description of the front circuit board selectors and indicators.

JP1/JP2
Selects point at which the freeze circuit turns on. An ambient air temperature of 35° or 40° can turn on the freeze protection circuit.

JP3/JP4
Used for testing the flow sensor (pressure switch).
The “SWITCH position” is used for normal operation, the flow sensor is active and senses the water flow. If there is insufficient water flow the sensor will open and after about 8 seconds the NO FLOW indicator will illuminate.
The BYP position is used to bypass the switch for testing. The unit will think the flow sensor switch is closed.

JP5/JP6 - selects either a 3 hour or 6 hour high speed cycle before the unit automatically switches to low speed. The 6 hour cycle should be chosen for large pools or pools that need extra time for the sweep cleaner to operate.

SW3 - selects Normal or Test operation.
In the NORMAL position all cycle times are normal. When SW3 is in the NORMAL position the SHUT DOWN CYCLE will last for about 7 minutes.
When this switch is in the TEST position and 3 hour operation is selected all cycle times are drastically reduced for testing purposes.
