SBX-302, 502, 602 FIELD TEST

Pre Set Switches and Jumpers

  1. On the main (Back)Board:
Freeze Select Jumper in 40° position.
Flow Bypass Jumper in the "Switch" position.

  3. Set the time clock:Push all the detentes away (out) from the center and rotate the time clock one full turn.

NOTE:

  1. DURING TESTING, ALLOW EACH FUNCTION TO COMPLETELY FINISH BEFORE ACTIVATING ANOTHER SWITCH. THE MICROPROCESSOR REMEMBERS EVERY SWITCH ACTIVATION.
  2. READ EACH STEP COMPLETELY BEFORE ACTIVATING ANY CONTROLS.

MANUAL OPERATION TEST

  1. Apply power to unit.
The POWER indicator on front panel will alternate between Red and Green.
The pump and PUMP indicator on the front panel will be off.
The NO FLOW and FREEZE indicators on the front panel will be off.
The COOL DOWN CYCLE indicator on the front panel will be off.
The T/Clk LED indicator on the main circuit board will be off.
  2. Turn the AUTOMATIC/MANUAL on the front panel switch to MANUAL.
The PUMPindicator will turn on and glow green.
The pump will turn on and run in high speed.
  3. Turn the PUMP ON/PUMP OFF switch to the PUMP OFF position.
    The pump will turn off.
The PUMP indicator will be off.
  4. Turn the PUMP ON/PUMP OFF switch to the PUMP ON position.
The pump will turn on and run in high speed.
The PUMP indicator will turn on and be green.
  5. Turn the AUTOMATIC/MANUAL Switch to the AUTOMATIC position.
The pump will run in HIGH speed for 7-23 seconds.(Cool Down Cycle orFireman's Switch function.).
The COOL DOWN CYCLE indicatorwill illuminate while the pump is running in high speed.
The PUMP light will be green.
  6. When the Cool Down Cycle ends:
    The pump will turn off.
The PUMP light on the front panel will be off.

AUTOMATIC OPERATION TEST

  1. Push some of the time clock detentes to the "on" position (detentes toward the center of the time clock). Rotate the time clock to an "on" position. Rotate the ION OUTPUT control to about 30% (N/A on the 302).
The PUMP indicator will turn on and be green.
The pump will turn on and run in high speed.
The T/Clk LED indicator (LD2) on the back board will be on.
The ION OUTPUT light will be on. (N/A for the 302)
  2. Before 35 seconds:
The PUMP indicator will change color to orange or yellow.
The pump will run in low speed.
  3. Rotate the time clock to an "off" position.
The pump will run in HIGH speed for 7-23 seconds. (Cool Down Cycle)
The COOL DOWN CYCLE indicator will illuminate while the pump is running in high speed.
The PUMP light will be green.
The T/Clk LED indicator (LD2) on the back board will be off.
The ION OUTPUT light will be off. (N/A for the 302)
  4. After the Cool Down Cycle ends:
    The pump will turn off.
The PUMP indicator on the front panel will be off.
The COOL DOWN CYCLE indicator on the front panel will be off.

Set Switches for Normal Operation

  1. Verify the following settings on the main board:
    Freeze Select Jumper in 40°position.
    Flow BypassJumper in switch position.
Hi to Lo Jumper in 3 hour position.
Normal/Test Switch to the Normal position.
  2. On the front panel:
    Automatic/Manual switch to Auto position.
Pump On/Pump Off to Pump On position.
Rotate Ion Output control to the "0" or normal position. (N/A for the 302)
  3. Set time clock for desired filtration cycle.

THIS COMPLETES THE BASIC OPERATION FIELD TEST.

FREEZE CIRCUIT TEST

  1. On the main board set the High To Low Jumper in the "3 hour" position and set the Normal/Test Switch in the "Test" position
  2. On the main board (rear) remove the wire from TB2 pin 4 (Freeze Common).
The PUMP indicator will turn on and be green. The pump will turn on and run in high speed.
The FREEZE indicator on the front panel will be on.
  3. Install the wire back in TB2 pin 4 (Freeze Common).
The pump will run in HIGH speed for 7-23 seconds. (Cool Down Cycle)
The COOL DOWN CYCLE indicator will illuminate while the pump is running in high speed.
The PUMP light will be green.
  4. After the COOL Down Cycle ends:
    The pump will turn off.
The PUMP indicator on the front panel will be off.
The COOL DOWN CYCLE indicator on the front panel will be off.
  5. Set High To Low Jumper in the 3 hour position. Set Normal/Test Switch in the Normal position

IONIZATION FIELD TEST (N/A for the 302)

  1. Turn the pump on with the MANUAL switch.Disconnect the wires from the electrodes and short them together. Rotate the ION OUTPUT knob to 30%.
The ION OUTPUT light should illuminate.
  2. Remove the short between the electrode wires - the CHECK ELECTRODES light should illuminate.
  3. Turn the pump off with the MANUAL switch. Reconnect the wires to the electrodes. Rotate the ION OUTPUT knob to 0%.

Following is a description of the main circuit board selectors and indicators:

Freeze
Selects the point at which the freeze circuit turns on. An ambient air temperature of 35°, 40° or 45° can turn on the freeze protection circuit.

Flow
Used for testing the flow sensor (pressure switch).
The SWITCH position is used for normal operation, the flow sensor is active and senses the water flow. If there is insufficient water flow the flow sensor will open and after about 8 seconds the NO FLOW indicator will illuminate.
The BYP position is used to bypass the sensor for testing. The unit will think the flow sensor is closed.

High To Low Time Out
Selects the length of the high speed cycle before the unit automatically switches to low speed. The 3 hour cycle is the normal setting. Large pools may use the 6 hour cycle. Pools with floor cleaners should use the 12 hour setting. The "CONT" setting does not allow the pump to switch to low speed.

Normal/Test - Selects Normal or Test operation.
When the switch is in the NORMAL position all cycle times are normal. The Cool Down cycle runs for 7 minutes.
When this switch is in the TEST position and 3 hour operation is selected all cycle times are drastically reduced for testing purposes. The Cool Down cycle runs for 7-23 seconds.
