Model 4501 Operation Test
[  ] Turn circuit breakers for all pool equipment off.
 

The water level in the pool should be correct.
The filter pump hair and lint pot should be filled with water to aid priming.

 

Verify the front panel switches are in the following positions:

Time Clock Off
Pump Off/Pump On Pump On
Manual/Auto Auto
Spa/Pool Pool
 

Set the Motor Control circuit board jumper (located on the lower left part of the board) as follows:
Note: Consult your manual for detail about the jumpers.

Flow Switch Bypass Normal
Test/Normal Test
Ht Pool Ht Pool & Spa (If pool and spa are to be heated.)
Ht Spa (If spa only or the heater fireman's switch circuit is not connected.)
  Turn circuit breakers on for all pool equipment.
The Mode light on the front panel should be red and blink.
No pumps should be running.
  Turn the Manual/Auto switch to Manual for about 30 seconds.
The pump will run in high speed and prime the pump.
Return the switch to the Auto position.
 

Rotate the time clock to an On position.
The filter pump will run in high speed for about 15-30 seconds.
If the Sweep Boost pump is connected, after 3-5 seconds it will turn on.
The front panel "No Flow" light will not illuminate.

  After about 15-30 seconds the filter pump will switch to low speed.
The Sweep Boost pump if connected, will turn off.
The Pump Indicator on the front panel will be yellow.
  Let the pump run in low speed for a couple of minutes.
The No Flow indicator on the front panel will not illuminate and the pump will stay in low speed.
  Set the Manual/Auto switch to the Manual position.
The filter pump will run in high speed.
The Sweep Boost pump, if connected, will turn on after a short delay.
The heater, if connected and the pool is to be heated, will be allowed to fire.
The Pump Indicator on the front panel will be green.
  Set the Manual /Auto switch to the Auto position.
The filter pump will run in low speed.
The Sweep Boost pump, if connected, will turn off.
The heater, if connected, may or may not fire. This depends on the heater pressure switch setting.
The Pump indicator on the front panel will be yellow.
  Turn the time clock to an off position.
The Cool Down light will illuminate if the heater was allowed to fire.
The filter pump will run for about 15-30 seconds.
The heater, if connected, will not fire.
  After about 15 seconds the pump will turn off.
The Pump light on the front panel will turn off.
  Turn off all pool equipment circuit breakers.
  Set the Motor Control circuit board Test/Normal jumper to Normal and set the other jumpers for normal operation.

  This completes the Model 4501 Field Operation test.
