[ ] The Power On/Off switch should be in the off position. No front panel lights should be on.
[ ] The sensor assembly should be out of the water or positioned so that the water is below all three sensors.
[ ] Make sure the water source for the fill valve is turned on.
[ ] On the circuit board verify the following: (Refer to diagram below)
Install the test jumper on JP6.
Install jumpers on JP4 and JP5. (This allows the fill solenoid to cycle many times.)
Verify the fill jumper JP2 is in the Auto position.
Circuit Board Layout

[ ] Turn the Power switch on the front panel to the “on” position. The Power On indicator should illuminate. The Freeze light should not illuminate.
[ ] In the test mode there is a 30 second delay. Then wait 2 to 30 minutes for all three sensor status lights on the front panel to turn off. (All sensors are dry.) The System Fault light may turn on and off during this period, but will eventually stay off. Until all three sensor lights turn off, ignore all actions of the unit.
[ ] Once all three status lights turn off:
The Function light should illuminate green for about 15 seconds. Then the Function light should illuminate yellow or orange for about 5 seconds. The light should continue to alternate between green and yellow as described above.
When the function light is yellow the fill valve should turn on and water should enter the pool.
Note: If too many fill cycles occur the System Fault light will illuminate and the Function light will not alternate. If this occurs turn the power switch off for 30 seconds and then back on. The fill cycles will start again.
[ ] Position the sensor assembly so that the Fill (bottom sensor) and Ideal (middle) sensors are in the water.
The Lower and Middle Sensor Status lights on the front panel should illuminate with 2 minutes. (Indicating these sensors are wet.)
The Function indicator on the front panel should be a continuous green light after the two lights are illuminated.
The fill valve will turn the water off and the cycling will stop.
[ ] If the valve did not open as required above then:
Put JP2 on the circuit board in the manual position. The valve should open. If not check the fuse F2 on the circuit board (Just above the large transformer. Check the valve wiring and valve orientation).
[ ] Turn off the Power Switch on the front panel.
[ ] Set the protection jumpers JP4 and JP5 on the circuit board as follows:
| JP4 | JP5 | Size of Pool or Spa | |
| Off | Off | 500 gallon spa | |
| Off | On | Up to 10,000 gallons | |
| On | Off | 10,000 gallons to 18,000 gallons | |
| On | On | 18,000 gallons to 37,000 gallons |
[ ] Remove the jumper on JP6.
[ ] Permanently mount the sensor so the “ideal” or middle sensor is at the level you want the water to reach when water is added. This completes the Field Test for the Model 3001 system.
